Patient Of The Month For December

By November 28, 2017February 19th, 2019Physiotherapy

Our Patient of the Month for December is Lynn Muirhead, one of Bend + Mend’s most loyal clients!

From Fiona: “My relationship with Lynn has been longer than my relationship with my husband!! She has been one of our longest standing clients and our goal has been to keep her moving so she can keep riding her beautiful horses and can compete. Lynn has an extremely active life which involves horse riding and skiing. She has a very busy life juggling her own business, her property, her activities and trying to squeeze in her Pilates classes as well. Or classes have been tailored to her lifestyle, so we incorporate horse riding and skiing-type exercises and also allow her some recovery time if she has the occasional fall off a horse (which is every week at the moment). We have seen her for broken limbs, torn muscles, strained ligaments and joints, you name it, we’ve fixed it! She is now attending Pilates more regularly and this is helping her retain her strength and also a good humour as we have a good laugh in our classes! Thanks so much Lynn for keeping us entertained and hopefully we can keep you active way into the future.”

And from Lynn: “I first encountered Fi and Mark when their business was contained to two little treatment rooms at No 1 Martin Place.  My personal trainer at the time, the fabulous Niki Grace introduced me to Fi to help me with an ACL reconstruction recovery; between Fi and Niki, they had me skiing bumps within 12 months of my surgery.

It has been a long and happy (and sometimes painful!) relationship ever since.  My passion for riding horses, skiing and wearing heels coupled with poor confirmation and a sedentary work life, has meant that my relationship with Bend and Mend (and Mark and Fi in particular) has been one of the most constant in my life!  They have pieced me back together through bulging discs, torn / strained ligaments, broken shoulder and reconstruction, broken back, and everything in between.

I started doing Pilates with Fi sometime ago and then due to work commitments had to stop for a while.  I recently started again and my body is really feeling the benefit.  I feel stronger, fitter and more balanced than I have in a long time.  It is wonderful to do something that is so good for you and get to laugh at the same time!  With the help and support of the Bend and Mend team, through both physio and Pilates, I am hopeful of being able to continue to compete my horses well into my dotage.  And as long as I continue to event my rather naughty young horse, they can be assured of my continued need for help in putting me back together again!”
