Would you say you get 5 sets of 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise in over the course of a week? Or failing that 2.5 hours of moderate intensity exercise a week, all in one go perhaps?
If not, apparently you are doing your body a disservice. Our body is constantly undergoing a break-down/repair cycle. The ability of the repair process to function relies on our ability to stimulate it. Stimulating it comes from exercising.
I would like to set you a challenge…Over the next month, build up to exercising 5 times a week. Moderate intensity exercise is a level where you can chat to your friend but only in short sentences due to a small amount of breathlessness. Walking with a purpose is one example of moderate intensity exercise.
The type of exercise that you choose does not have to be specific but Pilates is a another great way to get started. If you’ve been struggling with pain for a while, have had a baby, or are just out of the habit of exercising, Pilates is a great way to get back on the wagon.
If you’re still not sure you could email one of our friendly Physios at physio@bendandmend.com.au and we will answer any questions you might have. Give it a go, you won’t regret it!!
